"Ladies Alone" Banquet

This way of honoring the widows and other ladies of the church was brought to us by members of First Baptist Church of Pearland, our mother church. The deacons and their wives have sponsored this banquet for several years. These photos are from the 2005 banquet and Bro. D. O. Foster, pastor of First Baptist Church when Shadycrest Baptist Church was a mission, was our speaker.

These are representative of the tables beautifully decorated by the deacons' wives. A deacon couple was assigned to host each table, although with the deacons serving, they were at their tables for just enough time to eat quickly and go on to serve another course.

Our Music Minister and his wife and our Pastor and his wife hosted a table, but the other ladies had not yet arrived. Our Youth Minister and his wife also hosted a table.

The deacons formed an assembly line to fill the plates and take them to the tables.

Our deacon chairman introduced Bro. Foster, who made a very entertaining talk, and our pastor made closing comments and led in prayer.

The deacons' wives had prepared gayly wrapped Christmas scarves as gifts for the ladies.	Part of the cleanup crew.
