Pike's Peak Page Four

View from observation deck.
This view is more toward the east or northeast from the observation deck. The cog railway is visible in the lower right corner of the photograph.
View of the top.
This view is probably from the observation deck also. It seems to be toward the northwest. The weather was sunny when we first arrived at the top, but clouds were coming in. It was cool enough for a sweater to be comfortable.
View from top.
Another view similar to the previous one. In most aircraft and spacecraft operations supplement oxygen is required above 14,000 feet altitude. (Or the equivalent pressure in crew cabins and test chambers.) The altitude didn't seem to bother us at all. However, a few years later on a return trip, we rode the cog rail train and I got a severe headache before reaching the summit. It was very cold and snowy that time. A cup of hot chocolate in the park building helped.
